"Oh, Christmas Tree"...

Oh, Christmas tree, Oh, Christmas tree... Well, it's that time of year when we decorate for the holidays. Millions of Douglas firs, spruce and pine trees are seen wobbling on top of cars or precariously jutting out of car trunks as they head to grace homes, large or small.

This year I joined in with friends to cut, saw, or yank a live tree from a tree farm in the hinterlands of beautiful Chester County, PA. Fully equipped with warm gloves, boots and puffy parka, I gazed upon hundreds of trees waiting to be the "chosen."

Falling into a few as I "tested" the needles, I finally spun around and pointed at a nicely shaped Douglas Fir. Eureka!

After sawing and dragging it uphill (a mile at least), the mission was accomplished!

Tree's in my home and all's right with the world. Now... to keep your cut or live tree fresh for the holidays, check out tips from our friend and garden expert, Mark Highland, The Organic Mechanic. Enjoy!
