Succulents are Hot!

I remember during my college days living off-campus and having a small container of succulents that I totally neglected, but somehow, even covered up with strewn papers, clothes and an occasional lampshade, they survived. Amazing.

Succulents are cool. The easy sustainable plants produce showy flowers along with thick, fleshy foliage that stores water like a camel's hump! ( I confess, it must be the real reason my poor college plants survived!)
The above image shows how lovely they can look, along with sedum, displayed in a gorgeous Terra Nova Container from Campania.
These exotic-looking and versatile plants can adorn landscapes, roofs, and turn heads grouped in beautiful containers.

Drought-tolerant and able to thrive in a variety of conditions, succulents are perfect for small gardens and large landscapes, and yes, ideal for college dorms!

If I had known you were all so hot on succulents, I would have sent Suzy home with a garden for each of you. My bad.

Just wish I could find a source for succulents for zones 3 and 4. There are some beauties out there but no sense offering them if they won't make it through a northern Vermont climate. Any ideas?

Always go with a blend that drains effectively. The simplest (and often best) soils for potted plants are premium potting mixes, which may be found in hardware shops, nurseries, and garden centers. Read the bag's back to make sure it's right for your plant, and see whether the potting mix already contains fertilizers and soil enhancers or if you'll need to add them yourself. Mail order nursery
