Who is Blue? You?

With winter in hiding this December, I am missing the beautiful blues of icicles, frozen ponds and even cold blue lips! Blue is one of my favorite colors.  Getting true blue in the garden is easy with some lovely ideas like those pictured below from our APLD members.

What a lovely statement for the garden. What is your favorite color?

APLD Heads to Big D

Off to Dallas -- again!

But this time for the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) Annual International Design Conference Sept. 27- Oct. 2.

Dan Maffei and the APLD local team have planned a spectacular conference highlighting the hottest trends in landscape design. We'll see and hear first hand how Dallas landscape designers' dramatic approaches to incorporate sustainable initiatives, art and horticulture in their gardens.

I always learn something new at the workshops and lectures. Cutting-edge landscape designers share their secrets on such topics as creating sustainable designs, using new and different plants and smart water-wise practices.

We're staying at the Fairmont Hotel in the heart of Dallas’s Arts District, and the opening reception is being held at the Nasher Sculpture Center and catered by none other than the famous Wolfgang Puck. Yum!

Plus there will be a TweetUp Wednesday night at Pyramid Lounge from 5-7:30. Stay tuned for lots more to come.

See y'all in Dallas!

GMG Garden Soiree Dallas Style

We all had a blast at the 9th GMG Garden Soiree at the GWA Annual Symposium this week in Hot!!! Dallas.

We had Dallas size fun thanks to our sponsors American Beauties, Briggs, Conard-Pyle, Costa Farms, JazSpray and Liquid Fence .

Steve, Karen, Carol, Barbara, and Deb along with Lynne, Karen, Stacey and I gathered with about 40 of our closest gardening friends for some sizzling fun and lots of red meat and red wine.
Our goodie bags had lots of new plants and products for 2011 and some little cow bells. So we rang, rang rang, rang your bell. And we rang out for Stacey for making the party 1st class! And she surprised me with our own GMG 'brand' - because as Steve Castaroni says, "GMG makes brands sizzle!"<>
