Happy first day of Spring! How will you celebrate the awakening of Mother Earth!
On this first day of spring I celebrated early by planting my snow peas along a split rail fence in my flower bed this weekend. I wish I'd watched Fine Gardening's video first and soaked my peas and coated them with an inoculant.
On the day before this first day of spring I watched my fish bask in the sun after hibernating all winter. They were so happy to have fresh air and food!
On the day before this first day of spring, I marveled at the Super Moon and got up close and person with it through our new telescope Peggy gave us for a house warming present.
On this first day of spring I was thankful for the bouquet of daffodils my friend Debby brought me while we the hundreds coming up and ready to pop in our new yard.
On this first day of spring I welcome the rain as it waters the seeds I planted this weekend.
And on this first day of Spring, I'd like to share a poem from one of my favorite poes, Robert Frost. Garden Rant post a wonderful bit of unknow information about this poetic American chicken farmer.
A Prayer in Spring by Robert Frost
OH, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.
Oh, give us pleasure in the orcahrd white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.
And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.
For this is love and nothing else is love,
To which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends he will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.
Happy Spring! May your seeds sprout and your bounty be plenty!
