Putting in a pool

Today’s DIY homeowner is using the skills they use to make a living to do their own work and save lots of money. If you have the experience that you need, rent a backhoe and dig your own pool.

The pool companies can provide the measurements you need and you can rent big equipment.  This will save you money and make the work go much faster. Arrange to have the pool installed on the week you are finished digging. The pool vendor can install the pool once the site is ready. Check the laws in your area regarding fencing requirements.

Note: Make sure you have the permits and permission from the homeowners association if needed.

Concrete
There are various types of pools. If it is a vinyl-lined, fiberglass, and concrete. If you have an odd shape to match, the concrete pool is your choice. It can be poured to any size or shape. If this is the case, have your pool and patio concrete poured at one time.
Once the pool is installed and set, arrange to have the concrete poured. You will want concrete around the pool and if there is room, add a slab for a patio. It should be large enough to place chairs our loungers and a barbecue grill or smoker. Before you decide on the measurements make sure you have left room for your flower bed.

A full backyard make-over can cost some money. Most people will pay over $10K for the entire job. The more work you can do yourself, the less it will cost you. Adding the pool, patio, and flowerbeds will improve the aesthetics of the house and increases your property value.

Of course, you can always go to plan B and skip the pool, your patio and backyard oasis will still be lovely.
